Loch Arkaig Road Closure
The narrow twisting road which follows the northern shore of Loch Arkaig is one of the most scenic in Scotland; it also gives access to wild and remote walking areas, including the mountains of Glen Dessarry and Knoydart. Major repair work to this road has just started and this will cause travel problems during the next 3 months. Initially the delays should last no more than 20 minutes or so at a time, but when bridgeworks commence in March there will be significant closures and delays. The provision of a taxi/mini bus service at certain sections on the route will help to minimise the disruption but before heading that way it may be advisable to get the latest information by phoning the contractor on 01397 702834. It is anticipated that the work will be completed by early May.
